The Company

The plan, aesthetic and moral remains, to lead the dancers towards new experiences of life and dance, to develop a personal style, contemporary with these experiences, not to dismiss any heritage, not to follow any trend, to succeed in this point where the form and the content merge.

Philippe Tréhet has always been keen to write down his artistic adventure, not on an individual level but in the history of a company. An obstinate wager but a wager kept, against all odds.

To maintain the artistic team in this constant state will remain our principal preoccupation, a token of continuity indispensable to the assertion of an artistic aim and to the elaboration of a choreographic language.

Established in Le Havre since 1987, the company immediately gained the support of local cultural organizations and after two years received subsidizing from the French Ministry of Culture. As the company’s existence continued, Philippe Tréhet gathered about him a group of highly proficient dancers, thus ensuring an ongoing artistic excellence, indispensable both to his work and to the company’s development. All contribute to the progressive development of the company, fulfilling their role not only in the work within the studio but also contributing to the company’s many outside activities, increasing the public scope of the company and confirming its place within the community. Further ties have also been established between the company and a number of composers, set designers, musicians, artists and actors.

The company is regularly invited to perform at various international dance festivals including the Festival Biennale du Val du Marne, Holland Dance Festival, Holland Festival, Danse à Aix, Festival Le Temps d’Aimer, Cologne Festival and Dance Umbrella.

As well as creating new works for his own and other companies, Philippe Tréhet is often sought after to reset works from his company’s repertoire for other prestigious companies, thus bringing his works to a large international audience.
